Each kid makes a paper airplane and writes their name on it. Then take turns throwing it as close to a predetermined point as they can. Whoever gets closest wins.
Another prize could be the best trick on the way to the destination.
If you have more time, you could give them time to decorate their planes and award prizes for the best decoration and most creative airplane .
You can get to know kids names because you have them put their names on them and then you can write their name and score on white board.

I used this game recently at a pack meeting for cub scouts. We have about 40 boys. I separated them into three teems making sure to mix the ages up. I gave each team 50 sheets of paper and set three cardboard boxes up as scoring areas. They had 5 minutes to make the airplanes and try to score. I also had a "sweeper" from each team who crawled around on his belly and retrieved stray planes to return to his team for another throw. The game was fun and helped with communication (as the older boys taught the younger ones how to fold planes), and with strategy (as they worked together to find out which designs worked well and which did not.- Joshua (16 Oct 2014)
